Glenaraneen Cladding

Behind the beautiful exterior, Feature Stone cladding panels fit together making the construction process extremely fast and efficient, removing the need for a qualified stonemason, therefore each and every modular panel is completely unique, each having its own colour, sizes and textures. Feature Stone cladding also uses a larger base panel than many other panelling systems which allows a greater variation in stone sizes. This is what gives Feature Stone cladding its authentic dry stone appearance.

Sizes: 515 x 215mm, 315 x 215mm, 230 x 215mm

Fitting Instructions for Internal Walls
Feature Stone can be fitted both internally and externally. For internal applications it is critical that the surface onto which it is being applied has the strength and stability to hold the product. With a weight in excess of 65kg per m2 Feature Stone cannot be placed directly onto gypsum based products, plasterboard, plywood etc. In these instances it is necessary to fix a cement based board onto the wall and to clad the stone onto the board.

Fitting Instructions for Block Walls
Adhesive should be generously applied to both the panels and the surface they are being fixed to (approximately 5mm depth on each). The panels should then be installed from the lowest row and fitted together along the length of the wall, by simply fitting into place using a rubber mallet. Before moving to the second row, it is important to check that the joints between the pieces are alternated to ensure that they are not visible. If there is a corner in the design, then that should be the starting point. It is vital to use a long cornered piece on the bottom row and then alternate between courses with short corner pieces as you move up the wall. For heights above 3 meters, the use of a simple mechanical fixing system is recommended.

Fitting Instructions for Timber Frame Walls
If the exterior of a timber frame home is not built from block then an exterior grade cement board must be fitted. Cement board is a board made from Portland cement and aggregate core, with coated glass fibre mesh embedded in the back and front surfaces. Ends are square cut and edges are reinforced and finished smoothly. The thickness is 12.5mm. Cement board must be fixed with stainless steel screws and 15 screws per square meter. Joints on the cement board must be taped external grade glass grid layer fabric with alkaline resistance coating. Joints to be filled with external grade joint filler. Special care is to be taken around all openings to ensure the DPM is kept in place. A coating of adhesive, is applied generously to both surfaces (the wall and Feature Stone panel) with a suitable notched trowel. Feature Stone Panel is firmly pressed onto the wall (using a rubber mallet if needed).
